As a supervisor, you’re now juggling issues related to caring for and supporting remote teams, being flexible in your practices, and understanding the intersection between home and office productivity. Building trust requires establishing a framework for accountability. We suggest the following:
- Set clear expectations – put due dates out there, establish guidelines for what is expected (how it looks, what it covers, who it helps, etc.)
- Establish communication channels – we’ve discussed this before – set up meetings to check-in and visit regularly.
- To measure success, consider the output – was the deliverable completed on time? Are team members supporting each other? Are they stepping up in these challenging times? Or are the same “go-to” people stepping up over and over?
