We’re working hard to get the word out about the CNM Learning Hub for employee training and learning. To support CNM’s mission to “Be a leader in education and training” in regards to employee training, the college launched the Employee Learning Hub.
One part of the hub is designed to help employees find and participate in trainings that will help with advancement as well as personal and professional development. The other side of the hub is designed for employees who want to offer training and need help ensuring their training is aligned and promoted.
Since everyone has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hub also has a special section dedicated to Remote Work Resources. In that section, staff and faculty can find information and trainings on everything from Best Practices for Supervisors & Leaders for Remote Workers to Technology Precautions for Working Remotely, as well as information about stress relief and financial resources.
Please take time to review this site, show it during a staff meeting, and please share this email with all employees in your area! You can also invite the HR Training Team to attend one of your staff meetings to show off this resource!
Tip #27 for Leading Remote Teams
We’ve been talking a lot about teams and the value of teams here at CNM. Seems like nothing is done without a team. We started talking about the health of teams and came across the concept of “team resilience.”
We all know the importance of resilience – in ourselves, the people we care about, in employees. But have you thought about the role that resilience plays within your teams?
Resilience is defined as “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.” It’s a courageous and important trait, which we all desire for ourselves and our families. But as a leader, we also must think about the role that resilience plays in the success and progress of our teams.
Please take the time to read about the role you can play to build resilience in your teams. You’ll see that building resilience is important because, among other things, resilient teams believe they can do things, difficult things. They are also flexible and able to improvise, and we’ve all heard that flexibility and the ability to improvise are qualities most essential in the future of work.
Please take a moment to think about how you can build your teams and take them to the next level!

Welcome back to 2021 and all that this new year will bring!
We hope that you and your team are getting back into the swing of things and beginning to talk about all this year can bring to your own department, our CNM community, and our students who have dreams of something new and better. We hope these discussions with your workgroup can be a place to talk broadly, about things that are going on in the world around us.
Based on the events at the U.S. Capitol last week, the suggestions in the link above might help you think about how to bring up difficult topics and make space for open discussion.
Happy New Year and here’s to our best dreams for the year to come!

On January 15, 2021, CNM will be hosting the First Annual State of the College meeting for all faculty and staff. At this meeting, we will be sharing a slide show showcasing the CNM community at work, doing great things amidst the challenges of the pandemic. Please ask your team members to share a selfie while they’re working – at home, as part of a Zoom meeting, on campus, or in the classroom.
It’s fun! It’s easy! It’s a great way to acknowledge their hard work!
Please have your team send their selfies to Angela Sims at [email protected] no later than Dec. 18.
Tip #23 for Leading Remote Teams
There is a silver lining in staying home for the holidays. It gives us all a chance to rest, rejuvenate and recharge. 2020 has been a rough one, but a quieter holiday means a chance to reflect and give thanks for all the things we’re grateful for. Supervisors, enjoy some much-deserved time off and enjoy this classic recipe (so good you can eat it by the spoonful)!
